Mr Robson

Local social services approached Warm Zones asking for urgent assistance in the case of a 48 year old man who had had a major stroke the previous month, suffering a hypoxic brain injury as a result. This had been an immediate life-changing experience for both Mr Robson and his partner, who has had to give up work to look after him. At present, they are in the benefit claim process which takes time (probably many months) to come through.

In the meantime, they have little money and their very old heating system stopped working properly just when he needed to be kept warm to alleviate the symptoms and reduce the risk of further (and potentially life-threatening) problems.

Warm Zones was able to fast-track this job and, using local partnership gap funding and working with a trusted local installer, the work was approved and installed within three working days.

There were no other sources of funding available for this that social services or the clients were aware of (e.g. no ECO funding or other schemes) and it is only the Warm Zones partnership that could quickly access the funding and get the work programmed in so promptly.

It is in really acute cases like this where Warm Zones can make such a big difference to the client. With the support of our excellent installer network, we were able to turn this job around quickly to prevent the situation from making Mr Robson’s health worse.
