Her home was heated using very old and inefficient storage heaters that were not able to keep her home warm. She was finding it very difficult to get the home up to an acceptable temperature or maintain it if she managed to get her home warm.
Mrs F had many illnesses that were made worse by her cold and damp home. She suffered from respiratory problems, mobility issues and diabetes. Research into these types of illnesses has found that a cold or damp home can make respiratory and mobility issues worse, and diabetes sufferers can feel the cold more.
It was clear that Mrs F needed support to heat her home effectively which would, in turn, help her with her medical conditions. Warm Zones was able to utilise the Warm Homes Fund to replace her electric storage heaters with a full gas central heating system.
Warm Zones arranged for a local qualified installer to complete the work on behalf of Mrs F at no cost to her as the Warm Zones Fund grant would cover the costs.
As a result, for the first time in years, Mrs F now has a warm home and one that is more affordable to heat thanks to her new energy efficient boiler.
